The EPDM Roofing Association (ERA), representing EPDM roofing manufacturers, proudly sponsored Roofing Day in D.C. again this year. Held on April 8-9, this annual event, organized by the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) and supported by many industry groups, highlights ERA’s ongoing commitment to advocating for the entire roofing community.
Roofing Day brought together professionals from all corners of the roofing industry, providing a powerful opportunity to speak directly with lawmakers about crucial industry issues. ERA views its sponsorship as both a responsibility and a privilege, recognizing that a united roofing sector strengthens everyone’s voice.
Participants highlighted roofing’s significant economic impact—a $100 billion industry employing nearly one million workers—and emphasized the urgent need to address workforce shortages. Key priorities included increasing funding by $70 million for Perkins Career and Technical Education State Grants, supporting the bipartisan Stronger Workforce for America Act to modernize training programs, and establishing a new visa system through the Essential Workers for Economic Advancement Act. Participants also advocated for providing permanent legal status to workers under Temporary Protected Status and DACA, ensuring their continued contributions to our industry and communities.
On the economic front, the industry urged Congress to support essential tax reforms, including permanently extending the Section 199A deduction, immediately restoring deductions for research expenses, and maintaining vital energy efficiency incentives.
ERA is committed to collective advocacy efforts like Roofing Day, believing that when the roofing industry stands together, we create a stronger, more resilient future for all.
