ERA Staff on The Hill

ERA staff joined with more than two-hundred other members of the roofing community this past Wednesday, climbing Capitol Hill to deliver direct messages to members of Congress about the needs of the construction business. Roofing Day was organized by NRCA, and ERA is proud to have served as one of the sponsors. Our collective focus was on two dominant issues: first, immigration reform, ensuring that workers can enter the United States legally when the economy needs them and second, increased investment in technical education. NRCA set up meetings for Roofing Day attendees with appropriate members of Congress or their staff.

The meetings with Congressional staff are usually enlightening: these legislative aides are well informed, responsive, and engaged in what we tell them. Whether that translates into legislative action remains to be seen, but it feels like the collective effort certainly has an impact. Additionally, Roofing Day is a great way to meet members of the community from all over the country and hear about their experiences running small or large businesses, especially during this time of supply shortages. Thanks to the NRCA staff for making this day happen, and we will see you again next year.
