ERA joins other building industry associations to form the Building Resilient Action Coalition (BRAC)

ERA has joined with other building industry associations such as IBHS, the ICC, and the AIA to form the Building Resilient Action Coalition (BRAC). An outgrowth of the existing Resilient Building Coalition (RBC), the BRAC will coordinate advocacy activity among organization interested in resilience issues who are also able to participate in advocacy efforts on the federal level. The first priority of the BRAC is to call on Congress to include resilient buildings in an infrastructure package, an issue of great interest to ERA. A letter currently being drafted by members of the coalition states that the infrastructure legislation should include grants to enable seismic retrofits, wildfire mitigation, federal flood mapping and other pre-disaster mitigation projects in our nation’s critical buildings. As roofing industry professionals know, the roof is a critical component of a building’s resilience.

The letter should be sent to Congress any day now and ERA staff will report back on the final version of the letter.
