ERA letter to Biden Administration on pre-disaster mitigation initiatives

Early last week, ERA staff sent a letter to the Biden administration regarding FEMA pre-disaster mitigation initiatives. In response, Katherine B. Fox, Assistant Administrator for Mitigation in the Office of the Mitigation Directorate | Federal Insurance Mitigation Administration | Resilience at FEMA thanked ERA staff for their support of the Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) program and indicated that time will be spent over the summer to “educate our stakeholders about the BRIC program and provide resources and information to help applicants and sub-applicants apply for funding.” We will keep you posted on these developments, as ERA leadership is excited about the opportunity that BRIC funding will offer to contractors, consultants, architects, specifiers and designers to provide guidance to their customers and clients about the types of building enclosure projects that will be applicable for BRIC funding.

The ERA has been committed to researching resilience issues for several years now. Our most recent initiatives and findings are highlighted in Building Resilience: The Roofing Perspective 2020.
